Crate Push is a warehouse puzzle. You are the worker, the crates are heavy, and the only thing you can do is push one crate at a time into an empty space. Get every crate onto a target and the level is done. Every level here is generated fresh and checked by a solver, which also sets the par, the smallest number of pushes that solves it.
How to play
The rules.
- You walk up, down, left and right across the floor. Walls stop you.
- Walking into a crate pushes it one cell, as long as the cell beyond it is empty floor. You cannot push two crates at once, and you can never pull a crate.
- The level is solved when every crate stands on a target (the dashed circles).
Moving. Use the arrow keys or WASD, swipe on the board, or tap: tapping a neighbouring cell takes one step, tapping a crate next to you pushes it, and tapping a far cell walks there along the shortest path without pushing anything. On a phone the arrow buttons under the board do the same.
Getting stuck. A crate pushed into a corner, or against the outer wall with no target along that wall, can never reach a target again. Undo takes back your last step (a walk counts as one step), Restart returns the level to its start with the counters reset, and Hint makes the next move of the solver’s plan. If the hint finds no way out, it restarts the level for you.
Difficulty. Choose under Difficulty at the top; New level builds another warehouse at that size.
| Level | Warehouse | Crates | Par (usually at least) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 7 × 7 | 2 | 5 pushes |
| Medium | 9 × 8 | 3 | 10 pushes |
| Hard | 9 × 9 | 3 | 12 pushes |
Strategy
Look at the corners first. A crate in a corner is lost unless the corner is a target. Before any push, check whether it sends a crate somewhere it can never leave.
Keep the far crates for last. Crates that have to travel the length of the room need free lanes; park the nearby crates on their targets only when they will not block that lane.
Think in pushes, not steps. Walking is free; only pushes count towards par. Walk around a crate to push it from the other side rather than pushing it somewhere you will have to undo.
Use the walls. A crate against the outer wall can only be pushed along it, never away from it. That is fine when a target sits on the same wall and a trap when it does not; a short inner wall is different, because the crate can be pushed away once it clears the end of it.
