Gold Card Baccarat adds a lottery to classic baccarat. Once bets are closed and before any card is dealt, five cards of the deck turn gold, each with a multiplier of ×2, ×3, ×5 or ×8. If your bet wins and its hand holds a gold card, your win is multiplied. Two gold cards multiply each other. Live casinos sell this as Golden Wealth Baccarat. Ours uses the same idea with every rule and number published on this page.
How to play
Bets. Chips come in 20, 100 and 500, and every spot takes up to 1,000 credits in steps of 20. Each bet carries a 20% round fee: a 100 bet costs 120. The fee pays for the multipliers and doesn’t come back, even on a push.
| Bet | Base pay | Gold cards that count |
|---|---|---|
| Player | 1 to 1 | Player’s cards |
| Banker | 0.95 to 1 | Banker’s cards |
| Tie | 5 to 1 | all cards of both hands |
| Player Pair / Banker Pair | 9 to 1 | the first two cards of that hand (same rank) |
If the hands tie, Player and Banker bets come back (the fee doesn’t).
Gold cards. Each round five cards are drawn from a 52-card deck: a rank and a suit, such as the King of clubs. Every copy of that card in the eight-deck shoe is gold for the round. The King of hearts is not. Each gold card gets ×2, ×3, ×5 or ×8. The gold cards are listed above the hands and glow when they are dealt.
Multipliers stack. The base win is multiplied by every gold card in the hand that counts. A 7♥ ×2 and a K♣ ×5 in a winning Player hand pay 1 to 1 × 10 = 10 to 1. The same gold card dealt twice counts twice. The top multiplier is ×512 (three ×8 cards).
The cards. Aces count 1, 2 to 9 count their pips, and tens and picture cards count 0. Only the last digit of a total matters. Two cards each go to Player and Banker. A total of 8 or 9 is a natural and nobody draws. Otherwise Player draws on 0 to 5, and Banker draws by the standard third-card table. The higher total wins.
How the multipliers are weighted
Of every 32 gold cards drawn, 20 are ×2, 8 are ×3, 3 are ×5 and 1 is ×8. With five gold cards out of 52, a given card in your hand is gold a little under 10% of the time. Most wins are paid at the base rate. Now and then a gold card multiplies one, and a stacked win is rare.
What it costs
Return to the player per credit paid (bet plus fee), counted exactly over every possible deal from an eight-deck shoe and every gold draw:
| Bet | Return | House edge |
|---|---|---|
| Player | 99.24% | 0.76% |
| Banker | 98.25% | 1.75% |
| Tie | 95.26% | 4.74% |
| Player Pair / Banker Pair | 87.40% | 12.60% |
Strategy
Player is the bet here. Without gold cards, Banker is the better bet in baccarat. Banker still wins slightly more rounds (45.9% against 44.6%), but the gold multiplies the winnings, not the stake, so Player’s full 1 to 1 gains more from every gold card than Banker’s 0.95. Player’s 0.76% edge is lower even than Banker’s 1.06% at a classic table.
The Tie is far better than usual. A classic Tie at 8 to 1 gives up 14.4%. Here it pays only 5 to 1, but it counts every card on the table, up to six, and the gold cards make up the difference: 4.7%.
Expect most rounds to pay plain. The fee is a fixed cost every round, and the gold pays it back in occasional bursts. A short session can easily run below the long-run figures.
