How to play

Keno is a lottery-style casino game. You choose some numbers, 20 numbers are drawn at random from 1 to 80, and you’re paid according to how many of yours were drawn (your “catch”).

  1. Tap 1 to 10 numbers on the board, or press Quick pick to choose them at random. Tap a number again to remove it. Clear removes them all.
  2. Choose your bet: 10, 50, 100 or 500 credits per game.
  3. Press Play. Twenty numbers are drawn one by one. Your picks turn green when they’re drawn.
  4. You’re paid by the pay table for the number of spots you picked. Your picks stay on the board, so you can play them again right away.

Pay table (amounts per 1 credit bet, including your bet back):

22 → 15
32 → 2, 3 → 46
42 → 1, 3 → 6, 4 → 145
53 → 3, 4 → 15, 5 → 750
63 → 2, 4 → 5, 5 → 100, 6 → 1,600
73 → 1, 4 → 2, 5 → 21, 6 → 400, 7 → 7,000
84 → 1, 5 → 15, 6 → 110, 7 → 1,652, 8 → 10,000
94 → 1, 5 → 6, 6 → 44, 7 → 335, 8 → 4,700, 9 → 10,000
105 → 5, 6 → 24, 7 → 142, 8 → 1,000, 9 → 4,500, 10 → 10,000

The table next to the board shows the pays for your current number of spots, multiplied by your bet.

Strategy

Every number is equally likely, so it doesn’t matter which numbers you pick. Birthdays, patterns, “hot” and “cold” numbers all have exactly the same chance. What matters is how many you pick, because each count has its own pay table. The return of each, calculated exactly from the odds of every catch:

Some catches only give your bet back (for example 2 of 4, or 3 of 7). They count as a payout but not as a win.

  • Avoid 1 spot. It has by far the lowest return: you win 1 time in 4, and 3 credits back isn’t enough.
  • 7 to 10 spots return the most, but more and more of that return comes from rare big catches. With 10 spots, you win anything in only about 1 game in 15.
  • Apart from 1 spot, 3 and 6 spots win most often (about 1 game in 6 or 7) while returning close to the best.
  • Keno returns less than most table games: even with the best pick count, the house keeps about 7.5% of every bet.

For games where the house edge is much smaller, try Baccarat or European Roulette.

If you enjoy Keno, try Klondike Dice or Lansquenet next.
