Desert Gems is our ten-line slot. The reels, the symbol counts and the per-line prizes are the same as on a 20-line machine, but only the first ten paylines are live. That one change shifts the feel of the game more than any theme could: you pay half as much per spin, you win less often, and when you do win, the win is larger next to what you staked.
How to play
A fresh session gives you 1,000 virtual credits. The grid is five reels by three rows.
- Pick a value under Bet per line: 1, 2, 5, 10 or 20. All ten lines are always played, so a spin costs 10, 20, 50, 100 or 200 credits.
- Press Spin. Your stake is deducted and the reels land.
- A line wins when three or more matching symbols sit on it, starting at reel one and running right without a gap. Each line pays only its best combination, and every winning line is added up.
- The result line names each hit, for example “Line 4: 4 × Emerald +100”, and the credit counter updates.
The ten active lines are: the middle row, the top row, the bottom row, a V, an upside-down V, two diagonal steps (top-left to bottom-right and the reverse), a dip from the middle to the top row, a dip from the middle to the bottom row, and a shallow dip from the top row down to the middle. Press Pay table to see all prizes multiplied out at your current bet.
Gems, letters and the two specials
Four cut stones are the high symbols, five card letters the low ones. Prizes are per line bet:
| Symbol | 3 on a line | 4 on a line | 5 on a line |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wild sun | 50 | 250 | 1,000 |
| Ruby | 30 | 120 | 500 |
| Emerald | 25 | 100 | 300 |
| Sapphire | 20 | 75 | 200 |
| Amethyst | 15 | 50 | 150 |
| Ace | 10 | 30 | 100 |
| King | 6 | 25 | 80 |
| Queen | 5 | 20 | 60 |
| Jack | 4 | 15 | 50 |
| Ten | 4 | 12 | 40 |
The wild sun turns into whatever gem or letter completes the best line. It never stands in for the pyramid.
The bonus pyramid is a scatter: it doesn’t need a line. Three anywhere pay 2× your total bet plus 10 free spins, four pay 10× plus 15, and five pay 50× plus 20. Since your total bet here is only ten line bets, a three-pyramid hit at 5 per line pays 100 credits, half what the same hit pays on a 20-line game. The free spins themselves are worth just as much relative to your stake, and pyramids can land again during the round to extend it.
Why ten lines changes the ride
Each reel holds 36 stops: two suns, two pyramids, two rubies, two emeralds, three sapphires, three amethysts, four aces, four kings, four queens, five jacks and five tens. Each line, taken alone, has exactly the same chance of paying as it would on a 20-line board, so the return is identical: 95.37%, free spins included.
What differs is how the wins are spread out. From a two-million-spin simulation:
- About one spin in four pays something here, against about one in three with all 20 lines running.
- About 1 spin in 93 returns ten times the stake or more, against roughly 1 in 130 on the 20-line version.
- Free spins still trigger about once in 28 spins, because the pyramid count doesn’t depend on lines at all.
So the session has more empty spins and fatter peaks. That’s the trade, and neither version pays better.
Strategy
Nothing you press affects where the reels stop, and earlier spins have no effect on the next one. Strategy here is bankroll pacing, nothing more.
Ten lines double the number of spins you get from the same credits at the same line bet. At 1 per line a spin costs 10, so a 1,000-credit start covers 100 paid spins before counting any wins. Because hits are patchier, give yourself room: a line bet that leaves at least 30 to 50 spins in the balance means you’ll most likely reach a free-spin round before deciding whether you like the game.
