How to play

The reels here are an old-fashioned three-reel, one-line machine: sevens, bars, cherries and blanks, with only the middle row paying. The twist comes after a win. Instead of dropping straight into your balance, the prize waits in the middle of the screen and you decide what to do with it.

  1. Pick a bet of 1, 2, 5, 10 or 20 credits and press Spin.
  2. The reels stop from left to right. No win, and you simply spin again.
  3. Any win opens the gamble. The amount at stake and the number of guesses you have left are shown above the buttons. Press Collect to bank it, or make a guess.

You start with 1,000 credits, and nothing else about the spin changes: the next spin only becomes available once the win has been collected or lost.

The gamble

A card is about to be drawn from a freshly shuffled 52-card deck. You can call:

  • Red or Black. Get the colour right and the prize doubles.
  • One of the four suits: clubs, diamonds, hearts or spades. Get it right and the prize is multiplied by four.

A wrong call loses the prize; the spin’s bet was already spent, so you end up with nothing from that spin. After a right call you face the same choice again with the bigger amount: collect, or guess once more. You get at most five guesses per win. If the fifth one is right, the prize is collected for you.

Each card comes from a new shuffle, so earlier cards tell you nothing about the next one. The odds of a streak are just repeated halves and quarters:

Right calls in a rowColour: multiplierColour: chanceSuit: multiplierSuit: chance
1×21 in 2×41 in 4
2×41 in 4×161 in 16
3×81 in 8×641 in 64
5×321 in 32×1,0241 in 1,024

You can mix them too: a colour call and then a suit call is ×8 with a one-in-eight chance, exactly like three colours.

Why the gamble is fair

A colour call is right half the time and pays double; a suit call is right a quarter of the time and pays four times. In both cases the average outcome is precisely the amount you risked. The gamble takes no cut at all, which is unusual: on many real machines the double-up is where the house quietly gains a little more.

So the whole game returns exactly what the reels return: 94.27% of every credit bet, however often you gamble and whichever calls you make. That figure comes from counting all 32,768 stop combinations of the three 32-stop reels. About one spin in 4.5 wins something.

What the reels pay

Prizes are multiples of your bet: three sevens 200, three triple bars 60, three double bars 30, three single bars 15 and any mix of bars 5. Cherries count from the left reel: one pays 2, two pay 5, three pay 20. Only the best combination on the line is paid. These are the same reels and the same table as Classic Slots, whose page lists how often each line comes up.

Strategy

Since the gamble neither adds nor removes value, no guessing plan can push the return above 94.27%. What the gamble does change is the shape of your results.

  • Collecting every time gives the smoothest ride: lots of small wins, mostly single cherries and mixed bars, which slow the drain on your bank.
  • Gambling small wins turns many little prizes into fewer bigger ones. A 2-credit cherry win can become 64 with three right colours, but seven times out of eight it becomes nothing.
  • Suit calls are the high-risk version. Five right suits multiply a prize by 1,024, which turns even a 1-credit-bet cherry into 2,048 credits, but you’ll lose three times out of four on every single call.
  • Have a target before you start. The most useful habit is deciding in advance, for example “gamble once on colour, then collect”, so a run of wrong calls doesn’t push you into chasing.

No colour or suit is “due”. The deck is reshuffled before every card.

Frequently asked questions

Does gambling improve my chances?

No, and it doesn't hurt them either. On average, a gamble returns exactly what you put on it; it just makes results swing more.

How many times can I gamble one win?

Up to five right calls. After the fifth, the prize is collected automatically.

Is the next card affected by the previous ones?

No. Every card is drawn from a freshly shuffled full deck.

What happens if I call wrong?

The prize from that spin is lost. Your other credits are untouched.

Are these real credits?

No. They're play credits with no cash value; they can't be bought or cashed out, and 1,000 free ones are available whenever you run out.
