How to play

Sugar Cluster throws out the slot machine’s reels and paylines. Every spin fills a square board of 49 spaces, seven by seven, with candy. Wins come from clusters: five or more of the same sweet joined side by side. Position on the board doesn’t matter, only whether the pieces touch.

  1. Pick a bet: 10, 20, 50, 100 or 200 credits per spin. Every payout is a multiple of that bet.
  2. Press Spin. Fresh candy drops into all 49 spaces.
  3. Any group of 5 or more identical sweets connected up, down, left or right pays. Diagonal contact doesn’t link pieces.
  4. Winning groups pop. Candy above them falls to fill the gaps, and new pieces drop in from the top.
  5. If the new layout forms more clusters, they pay and pop too. The chain continues until a drop produces no win.

Several clusters can pay on the same drop, and a single spin can chain through several drops. The spin’s total is shown at the end. Pay table opens a panel with each candy’s prizes worked out at your current bet.

The candy and the pay table

Seven sweets, from rarest to most common, with how often each appears in a fresh space:

CandyShare of drops5–67–89–1112–1415+
Rainbow lollipop9.1%×4.8×12×30×96×360
Heart candy11.4%×3.6×9.6×24×72×240
Star candy13.6%×2.4×7.2×18×48×180
Wrapped candy14.8%×2.4×6×14.4×36×120
Gumdrop15.9%×1.2×4.8×12×30×96
Donut17.0%×1.2×3.6×9.6×24×72
Jelly bean18.2%×1.2×2.4×7.2×18×60

The multipliers apply to your whole bet. On a 50-credit spin, a cluster of eight hearts pays 480; a cluster of fifteen lollipops would pay 18,000. Payouts are rounded down to whole credits.

There are no wild symbols, no free spins and no step multipliers in this game. Every credit comes from clusters and the chains they set off.

How the cascades work

The tumble is what gives the game its rhythm. When a cluster pops, everything in those columns slides down, so pieces that were far apart can suddenly be neighbours. A five-gumdrop win near the bottom can drag a row of jelly beans down next to three more, and the second drop pays without another spin.

Each new piece is drawn at random with the shares above, independent of the others. Because one drop shapes the next, the overall return can’t be written down as a neat formula. It was measured instead, by simulating 4,000,000 spins.

The numbers

  • Return to player: about 95.3% (95.28%, plus or minus about 0.1%).
  • Roughly one spin in three pays something, and many paying spins are a single small cluster of common candy.
  • On average a spin produces 0.38 winning drops, counting the first drop and every cascade.
  • Wins of 10× the bet or more come up around once in 115 spins.

Strategy

There are no choices to make once you press Spin, so the real decisions are about bet size and expectations.

Bet size doesn’t change the odds. The pay table scales with your bet, and the return is the same 95.3% at 10 credits or 200. Pick a stake that lets your balance ride through dry spells.

Expect long gaps. With two spins in three paying nothing, runs of ten or more blank spins are common. A big cluster of lollipops or hearts is what lifts a session, and those are rare.

Small wins aren’t break-even. A five-piece cluster of jelly beans pays ×1.2, a 20% profit on that spin. Most hits are like this, so most of the return comes from the occasional large cluster.

Past spins don’t matter. Every new piece is independent. A run of losses doesn’t make the next spin more likely to pay.

Return to player

Chained features (cascades or sticky bonus rounds) make an exact calculation impossible here, and we do not publish simulated estimates.

Frequently asked questions

How big does a cluster have to be in Sugar Cluster?

At least five identical candies touching up, down, left or right.

Do diagonal candies count as touching?

No. Only horizontal and vertical neighbours join a cluster.

What happens after a win?

The winning candies pop, the pieces above fall down, new candy fills the top, and any new clusters pay too.

What is the return to player?

About 95.3%, measured over 4,000,000 simulated spins.

Are the credits real money?

No. They're virtual and can't be bought, cashed out or exchanged. You can claim 1,000 free credits if you run out.
