How to play
Temple Tome is a 5 × 3 slot with 10 lines and an Egyptian theme. Its whole personality is in the free spins, where one randomly chosen symbol becomes the “special” symbol and can pay on every line without needing to sit side by side.
Choose a coin between 1 and 20; ten coins make one spin, so the cheapest stake is 10 credits. Press Spin. Lines read left to right and each pays its single best combination. Two symbols are generous in the base game: the Golden eye and the Jade scarab already pay for two in a row.
The Temple tome is the scatter. Three, four or five of them on different reels pay a prize based on the total bet and start 10 free spins no matter how many landed. A banner announces the special symbol for the round, and the button switches to Free spin.
The special symbol
Before the first free spin, one of the nine regular symbols is drawn at random: one of the four pictures or one of the five royals. The wild is never chosen.
On every free spin, the game counts how many reels show the special symbol anywhere in their three rows. If that count reaches the symbol’s minimum pay (two reels for the eye and scarab, three for the rest), each of those reels fills up with the symbol and the result is paid as a full win on all 10 lines. The reels don’t need to be neighbours: a scarab on reels 1 and 4 counts as two.
That payout comes on top of normal line wins from the same spin. Some quick sums for the size of it, in multiples of the total bet:
- Q on three reels: 2 coins × 10 lines = 20 coins, or 2× the bet.
- Pharaoh’s crown on four reels: 33 × 10 = 330 coins, 33× the bet.
- Golden eye on five reels: 414 × 10 = 4,140 coins, 414× the bet.
More tomes during the round add another 10 spins and keep the same special symbol.
Pay table
| Symbol | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Temple wild | – | 28 | 138 | 552 |
| Golden eye | 1 | 17 | 83 | 414 |
| Jade scarab | 1 | 11 | 55 | 221 |
| Pharaoh’s crown | – | 8 | 33 | 110 |
| Temple shield | – | 6 | 22 | 83 |
| A | – | 3 | 11 | 44 |
| K | – | 3 | 8 | 33 |
| Q | – | 2 | 7 | 28 |
| J | – | 2 | 6 | 22 |
| 10 | – | 2 | 4 | 17 |
Values are coins per line. The wild substitutes for everything except the tome, and wilds don’t count toward the special symbol’s reels.
Tome prizes: 3 tomes 2×, 4 tomes 20×, 5 tomes 200× the total bet.
The odds
Each 37-stop reel carries two tomes, which brings three or more on screen about once every 30 spins. The return is 96.14%, calculated exactly from the reels, the special-symbol draw and the pay table, not simulated. A two-million-round sampling run measured about 31.8% of rounds paying; that hit rate is approximate.
The gap between a good and a bad bonus is enormous here. Every symbol is equally likely to be picked, so five times out of nine you get a royal, and a royal special symbol tends to pay modestly. When a picture is picked, and especially the eye or scarab, which only need two reels, the round can pay many times what an average one does.
Strategy
The special symbol is random and there’s nothing to choose during the bonus, so the honest advice is about expectation and pacing.
- Don’t judge the game by one bonus. A 10-spin round with a 10 as the special symbol is the most common kind of disappointment. The long-run figure depends on the rare eye and scarab rounds.
- Use a coin that buys a hundred spins. At once per 30 spins, that gives you a few bonuses, which is the minimum to get a feel for the spread.
- Read the banner. Knowing whether the special symbol needs two reels or three tells you what to look for on each free spin.
For a different free spins twist, Ice Palace freezes wilds instead of expanding a symbol. Titan Reels fills the middle of the screen with a single giant symbol in the base game.
