How to play
Triple Double Bonus is the extreme end of the kicker games. Four Aces with a 2, 3 or 4 beside them pay 800 per credit, which at 5 credits is 4,000: exactly what a royal flush pays.
The machine itself is standard single-hand draw poker on a 52-card deck, reshuffled every hand. Use Bet one to set 1 to 5 credits and Deal, or Bet max to bet 5 and deal immediately. Tap the cards you’re keeping (marked Held), press Draw, and the table pays your final five cards.
The Hint button takes kickers into account: after an optional ad, it shows which hold has the best average result over every possible draw. You play with virtual credits, starting at 1,000, and can refill another 1,000 for free.
Pay table
| Hand | Per credit | At 5 credits |
|---|---|---|
| Royal Flush | 250 | 4,000 |
| Four Aces + 2, 3 or 4 | 800 | 4,000 |
| Four 2s-4s + A, 2, 3 or 4 | 400 | 2,000 |
| Four Aces | 160 | 800 |
| Four 2s, 3s or 4s | 80 | 400 |
| Four 5s through Kings | 50 | 250 |
| Straight Flush | 50 | 250 |
| Full House | 9 | 45 |
| Flush | 7 | 35 |
| Straight | 4 | 20 |
| Three of a Kind | 2 | 10 |
| Two Pair | 1 | 5 |
| Jacks or Better | 1 | 5 |
The kicker lines are double those of Double Double Bonus. The cost is just as visible: three of a kind pays 2 instead of the usual 3, and two pair pays 1.
The numbers
With perfect play at 5 credits, this table returns 99.58%, an exact count over every deal and hold. Only about 43% of hands pay anything, and the trips cut makes ordinary hands thin. The big ones under best play:
- Four Aces with a 2, 3 or 4: about once every 14,200 hands.
- Four Aces with any other kicker: about once every 6,750 hands.
- Royal flush: about once every 45,000 hands.
That’s a lot of the return riding on rare hands. Expect long losing stretches broken by a single huge pay.
Strategy
This is where the kicker rule changes your holds. In Double Double Bonus, you throw the kicker away when you have three Aces. Here you keep it. All of these come from the game’s exact hold values:
Three Aces with a 2, 3 or 4 (A♣ A♦ A♥ 3♠ 9♣). Hold A-A-A-3 and draw one card. That’s worth about 19.4 per credit; three Aces alone are worth about 15.7. If the one card you draw is the last Ace, you’ve hit the 800 hand.
Three 2s, 3s or 4s with an Ace or another low card (3♣ 3♦ 3♥ 4♠ 9♣). The same idea: hold the trips plus the 4, about 10.9 against 9.0 for the trips alone.
Three of a kind with a high kicker (5♣ 5♦ 5♥ K♠ 9♣). No bonus kicker here, so hold just the three 5s.
A full house of Aces. Break it and keep the Aces: about 16.3 against the 9 the full house pays.
Aces up (A♣ A♦ 8♣ 8♠ 5♥). Keep only the Aces (about 2.11 against 1.68).
A pair of Aces with a 3 and a 4 (A♣ A♦ 3♥ 4♠ 9♣). Keep only the Aces. Holding a kicker with a mere pair costs you a card on the draw, and it doesn’t pay off until you have three Aces.
Because trips pay only 2, made three of a kind is less comfortable than usual, and pairs of Aces are worth more than any other pair. Bet 5 credits so the royal and the kicker hand both reach 4,000.
