Frontier Town is a gold-rush slot built around one scarce symbol. Each reel carries a single gold sack among 36 stops, so lining up five of them is rare, and the pay table rewards it with 800 times the line bet. Meanwhile the card letters are packed onto the strips, which keeps small wins coming more often than on most of our five-reel games. Wanted posters bring long free-spin rounds of 12, 18 or 25.
How to play
Your purse starts at 1,000 virtual credits. The machine has five reels, three rows and 20 fixed paylines.
Choose a Bet per line of 1, 2, 5, 10 or 20, then hit Spin. A spin costs twenty line bets, so 20 to 400 credits depending on your setting.
Lines are read from the leftmost reel to the right. Three or more matching symbols in an unbroken run from reel one pay according to the table below, times your line bet. If a line could pay in two ways, it pays the larger. Every winning line is paid, and the message under the reels lists them one by one (“Line 12: 3 × Cowboy hat +125”). The Pay table button shows the same prizes already multiplied by your current bet.
The posse: symbols and prizes

Prizes are in line bets.
Sheriff star. The wild. It stands in for the sack, the hat, the boot, the horseshoe and every letter, which matters most for the gold sack: with only one sack per reel, a star is often what completes a long sack line. It doesn’t stand in for the poster.
Wanted poster. The scatter. Posters count anywhere in the window, not just on lines. Three pay 2× your total bet and start 12 free spins; four pay 10× with 18; five pay 50× with 25. Free spins use the line bet that won them, and posters during the round add more.
Reading the strip
The strips decide everything here. Each 36-stop reel holds:
- 1 gold sack, 2 cowboy hats, 2 boots, 3 horseshoes
- 4 aces, 4 kings, 5 queens, 5 jacks, 6 tens
- 2 sheriff stars and 2 wanted posters
From those counts the long-run return works out exactly to 95.47%, free spins included.
With so many letters on the reels, a three-of-a-kind somewhere among 20 lines is common: in a two-million-spin simulation about 38% of spins paid something, more than on Fruit Slots with the same layout. The flip side is that many of those are ten-to-queen wins worth less than the stake; only about 15% of spins return the full bet or more. Letters supply roughly 63% of all line winnings.
The single sack makes the top end steep. On any given line, five sacks (with stars filling in) come up about once in 287,000 tries. Five stars, worth 1,100, are rarer still at about one in 1.9 million per line.
Posters show up about once in 28 spins. With 12 to 25 spins per round plus retriggers, an average round lasts roughly 23 spins, and free spins account for about 45% of everything the machine pays back.
Strategy
There is no skill element. Every reel stops at a random position chosen independently each spin; past results, the time you’ve played and the size of your bet don’t change that. A poster isn’t “due” after a long gap.
Treat the bet selector as a pacing tool. The frequent small wins make Frontier Town feel gentler than it is: your balance will drift down between bonuses, because most hits return only part of the 20-line stake. At 1 or 2 per line, a 1,000-credit purse usually lasts long enough to see a few poster rounds, which is where close to half the return is waiting. Going to 20 per line (400 a spin) means the session lives or dies on catching a bonus early.
