How to play
A Sit & Go is a single-table poker tournament that starts as soon as the seats are filled. Here you sit down with one to five computer opponents, everyone gets 1,500 tournament chips, and the game is fixed-limit Seven Card Stud. Play until one player has every chip.
Each hand plays like a Seven Card Stud cash game:
- Everyone puts in the ante and gets two cards face down and one face up. There are no blinds and no dealer button.
- The lowest up card (aces high; on a tie, clubs lowest, then diamonds, hearts and spades) must bring in: either the bring-in bet or a complete to the small bet. Everyone else then folds, calls or completes.
- Three more cards come face up, one at a time, then a last one face down, with a betting round after each. From the fourth card on, the player with the best up cards speaks first.
- The best five-card hand from your seven cards wins. If everyone else folds, you win without showing; at a showdown, every hand still in is turned face up.
Fixed limit. Every bet and raise has one size, shown on the buttons: the small bet on the first two rounds, the big bet (twice as much) from the fifth card on. A round allows at most four bets.
Rising stakes. Every 8 hands the limits go up: 20/40, 30/60, 50/100, 80/160, 100/200, 150/300, 200/400, 300/600, 500/1,000, 800/1,600, 1,000/2,000 and finally 1,500/3,000. The ante is a quarter of the small bet and the bring-in half of it, so they rise too (5 and 10 at the first level, 7 and 15 at the second). The middle of the table shows the current level, how many hands are left before it rises, and how many players are still in.
Eliminations. A player who loses all their chips is out and nobody takes their seat. If two players go out in the same hand, the one who started that hand with more chips finishes higher. When you go out, you see your finishing place; if you collect every chip, you win the tournament.
Between hands you can leave the tournament: you finish last among the players still at the table. Choose a table size from 2 to 6 players when you start a new tournament. Your tournament is saved, so you can close the page and come back to the same hand.
Strategy
Start with the right three cards. Pairs (especially a high pair with the pair card hidden), three cards to a flush or a straight, and three of a kind are the hands to play. Fold most hands whose up card is lower than the other players’ up cards.
Watch the dead cards. Folded up cards are out of play. If two of your flush cards are showing in other players’ hands, your draw is much weaker.
Antes grow, so steal more. At the later levels the antes and bring-in make the pot worth winning before anyone has a hand. With a high up card and few players left, complete the bring-in more often.
Fixed limit is patient poker. You can’t push someone off a hand with one big bet. Win by playing better starting hands, folding beaten hands early and making opponents pay when you’re ahead.
