How to play

Walking Wilds is a Wild West slot with five reels, three rows and 20 lines. There are no scatters and no free spins. Instead, any wild that lands takes a walk across the screen, one reel per spin, and you don’t pay for the spins it takes along the way.

Pick a coin (1, 2, 5, 10 or 20). Twenty coins make one stake. Press Spin. Lines are paid from the leftmost reel, with only the best combination on each line counting. You begin with 1,000 credits.

If a wild is showing anywhere on reels 2 to 5 when the spin ends, the wild is marked and the button reads Respin. Press it: the wild moves one reel to the left, staying in the same row, and the other cells spin fresh. Wins are paid again. This repeats until no wild is left that can move.

How the walk works

  • A wild that lands on reel 5 walks to 4, 3, 2 and finally 1, giving four free respins. One landing on reel 2 gives one.
  • A wild on reel 1 pays on that spin and then leaves; it has nowhere left to go.
  • A new wild that lands on a respin joins the walk. That can stretch a sequence well beyond four respins.
  • Several wilds walk side by side. Two wilds landing in the same row on reels 4 and 5 travel together, and for a few spins they’re adjacent on every line that passes through that row.

All respins use the coin of the paid spin that began the sequence, and the coin buttons stay locked until it ends.

The odds

Each reel is 36 stops with a single wild, so any given reel shows one about 1 time in 12. With four reels able to start a walk, about 29% of paid spins (roughly three in ten) lead to at least one respin.

A simulation of 2,000,000 rounds at the smallest coin returned about 96.3% of stakes, and 48.4% of rounds paid something. A “round” here means the paid spin plus all the respins it produced. These are sampled values with a small margin.

That near-half hit rate comes largely from the walk itself: each respin is another full chance at a line win, and the wild in the window makes that chance better than on an ordinary spin.

Strategy

The direction of the walk is fixed and the reels are random, so there’s no decision during a sequence. Things that help you follow what’s happening:

  • Count respins as you go. The reel a wild lands on tells you how many free respins it brings. Reel 5 is the best start; reel 2 the shortest.
  • Watch the last step. When a wild reaches reel 1 it becomes the first symbol of every line that starts in its row, so the final respin of a walk has the wild in its most useful spot.
  • Smaller coin, longer play. Wins come often but tend to be small, so a 1 or 2 coin keeps you going through the quiet stretches.

For wilds that stand still and fill a reel, try Nebula Wilds. For wilds that stay put during free spins, Ice Palace freezes every one that lands.

If you enjoy Walking Wilds, try White Hot Aces or Wild Multiplier Wilds next.

Frequently asked questions

How many free respins can one wild give?

Up to four, if it lands on reel 5. New wilds landing during the walk can add more.

Does a wild on reel 1 give a respin?

No. A wild on the first reel pays on that spin but has nowhere to walk, so it doesn't start a respin.

Do I pay for respins?

No. Respins are free and use the coin from the spin that started the walk.

Can two wilds walk at the same time?

Yes. Every wild on reels 2 to 5 steps left on each respin, so groups of wilds move together.

Can I buy credits?

No. Credits are virtual and can't be bought or withdrawn. If you run out, you can claim 1,000 free ones.
